Fresh Ways to Decorate Easter Eggs!

Fresh Ways to Decorate Easter Eggs!

Easter is just a few days away and for a lot of people, that will mean dyeing Easter eggs. But instead of just dyeing your Easter eggs this year, try some different techniques and decorate your eggs a different way. Check out the suggestions below and give them a try!

Leaf Print Eggs

What you'll need:

  • Small flat leaves (we used fern, cilantro, dill, thyme, and mint leaves)
  • Hard-boiled white eggs
  • Nylon stockings, cut into 3-inch-long sections
  • Rubber bands
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Food coloring
  • Large glasses, one for each dye bath (be sure they're wide enough to hold an egg)
  • Spoon

How to make it:

  1. 1.    Lay a leaf on an egg, and then cover it with a section of nylon stocking to hold it in place.
    2.     Pull together both open ends of the stocking, then twist the ends together and secure them with a rubber band.
                3. For each dye bath, mix ½ cup warm water, 1 teaspoon vinegar and 10 to 20 drops of food      coloring in a glass. Carefully submerge the nylon wrapped egg in the bath and let it soak for about 4 minutes.
               4.     Use a spoon to remove the egg from the dye bath and set it on a covered work surface Carefully remove the rubber band, nylon and leaf. Allow the egg to dry completely before further handling it.

    Chalkboard Paint Easter Eggs

    GATHER
    • Blown eggs, as many as desired, clean and dry
    • Black chalkboard paint (spray or brush-on)
    • Small flat paintbrush (if using brush-on paint)
    • Coloured chalk
    • Paper towel
    • Tiny magnets and glue (optional)

    CREATE
Paint the eggs and let them dry. If you are using spray paint, work outdoors or in a ventilated space.
2 To create a bond for the designs, cover the surface of each egg with any colour chalk and then, using a paper towel, gently rub off the chalk.

3 Draw a design on each egg freehand, using as many colours as you like.

4 If you'd like to display an egg on your refrigerator or a memo board, glue a tiny magnet to its back.

    Sticker Easter Eggs
Egg decorating couldn't get much simpler than this method: All you do is apply stickers to your egg before dyeing to create cool shapes and silhouettes.

    What you'll need

    • Hard-boiled eggs, cooled
    • Small stickers (basic shapes like circles, stars, and hearts work best)
    • Egg dye
    • Vegetable oil (if needed)
    • Paper towel (if needed)

    How to make it

    1. Apply stickers to the eggs, taking care to completely press down all the edges. Dye the eggs, then let them dry completely, about 5 minutes.
    2. Sticker Stencils - Step 2
