Facebook is Coming to Utah



It was recently announced that a new 970,000 square foot data center will start construction in Eagle Mountain, Utah. Jump starting the community with new development, the data center is bringing a ton of benefits to Utah County:

  • Tax revenue would be split among the city, county, Alpine School District, Unified Fire Authority and the Central Utah Water Conservancy District.
  • After the 20 year tax encentive package expires, property tax collections would jump to millions of dollars annually. 
  • The Project will not increase taxes for residents or businesses.
  • Facebook plans to invest more than $750 million into the surrounding community in addition to more than $100 million in road and utility infrastructure.
  • The data center will fund a new electrical substation that will provide new power delivery capacity to the region to support additional economic development.
  • New jobs The tech center will bring in 30-50 jobs within the company.
  • Several hundred support and contract positions will be open.
  • The facility will be powered by 100% renewable energy from Rocky Mountain Power and will also purchase its own water rights and construct the required water infrastructure.
  • The modest employee headcount will not significantly impact local resources such as schools, fire and police services, or traffic in the rapidly growing Eagle Mountain area.
